K R Padiyar has been Professor of Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, since 1987. Before joining IISc, he was at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur initially as Assistant Professor (1976 – 1986) and later Professor (1986 – 1987) in the Electrical Engineering Department. He has been actively involved with research in HVDC and SVC systems, Power System Dynamics and Control for over 20 years.
