In experimental research, the researcher manipulates one or more variables in such a way that, their effect on other variables can be measured. A variable is any condition, situation, object, event or characteristic that may change in quantity and/or quality. In scientific experimental settings, researchers often manipulate a variable to know its effect on second variable. Independent and dependent variables are mathematical tools. The independent variable represents the variable whose value is being manipulated. The dependent variable is the observed result of the independent variable.
