The concept community, though popular, is very loosely used. It is given different interpretation and used in many different ways both by laymen and sociologists. To a commoner, it may mean a caste. Too facile application of the concept like student community, peasant community, working community, teaching community, world community, etc., creates too many confusions and complications. There are places of educational religious and historic importance inhabited by people. These people have common social ideas and the sense of belonging together. Such groups having a common social living in a common specific area are called communities. Thus, we apply this term community to groups such as a city, a village, a tribe, a nation etc.; Many sociologists have defined the concept community.
