Reproduction is a feature of all living forms and can occur asexually or sexually. Asexual reproduction is most often seen in protozoans that involve a simple mitotic division of the nuclear material between the daughter cells followed by the cytoplasmic division. Sexual reproduction occurs when meiosis is possible and haploid gametes can form and fuse during syngamy to restore the diploid condition. Though sexual reproduction is possible most protozoans reproduce by the asexual method. May be it is the easiest and quickest way to increase in number, especially when there is an abundance of food in the environment that could be consumed.
